The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has successfully conducted its first Aster missile live-firing in Toulon, France.
The missile was fired from RSS Intrepid, the second of the RSN's six stealth frigates. The frigates are equipped with the Aster Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system, which has a range of up to 30 kilometres.
Besides forming the core of the Third Generation RSN s fighting group, the frigates also enhance and contribute to Singapore s overall air defence network.
Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong witnessed the live-firing.
