The 40th Battalion, Singapore Armoured Regiment (40 SAR) of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) conducted its first Armour Battle Group (ABG)-level exercise with the Indian Army (IA) earlier this year.

The unit was participating in Exercise Pouncing Tigers, held in Babina, India from February to March.

40 SAR carried out tactical combined arms training up to the ABG level, and executed bilateral live-firing manoeuvres with their Indian counterparts.

Besides the employment of SAF and IA Armour Combat Teams and ABG HQs, the exercise also witnessed the integration of a SPIKE anti-tank guided-missile platoon, Land Assault Mine Breaching Equipment (LAMBE) from the SAF, Armoured Engineers and Artillery from the IA.

Ex Pouncing Tigers 2006 marked the second year of the Army's bilateral training in India.
