RSS RESOLUTION RETURNS FROM THE GULF

Their family members and loved ones have waited three long months for the moment, when RSS Resolution and its crew will return home from their deployment in the Gulf.

With a crew of more than 180 members on board, RSS Resolution set its gangway on the wharf at Changi Navel Base to a cheering home crowd on 19 March.

Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral (RADM) Ronnie Tay, was also there to welcome them home.
Deployed in the Northern Arabian Gulf for maritime security and interdiction operations, the Landing Ship Tank's crew was made up of various individuals from different units.

But that did not stop them from working together as a team.

"I think we have done very well, not only in our own eyes, but also in the eyes of other navies," said Lieutenant-Colonel (LTC) Bernard Maranda, the Commanding Officer of 191 Squadron.

"They were very pleased with our performance."

Though operations were hampered by the unfamiliar seas and cold weather, the morale of the crew remained strong.

Second Warrant Officer (2WO) Harpajan (left), Coxswain of RSS Resolution, embraced his family members as he told them tales of hardship in the Gulf.

"We worked hard, we played hard, and this was something different, to see the cultures and lifestyles. After seeing all this, you will know how to better appreciate your country," he said.
