Four key attributes of Air Force personnel make the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) one of the best in the world. These are tenacity, fortitude, dynamism and competency.
In celebrating the RSAF's continual drive towards excellence, eight personnel who best exemplify these attributes were awarded the Best Airmen Award by Chief of Air Force, Major-General Lim Kim Choon, on 1 Sep.
More than 1000 men and women from the RSAF gathered at Tengah Air Base for the RSAF 37th Anniversary Parade, showing their support for their high-achieving colleagues and their unwavering loyalty toward the organisation that some of them have grown to be tremendously proud of.
I joined the RSAF on the joint-polytechnic scheme, and went from knowing nothing about national security and defence to being where I am today, said First Sergeant (1SG) Yong Chee Chong, an Air Operations System Specialist with 203 Squadron, and recipient of the Best Air Operations Systems Specialist Award.
The Air Force has definitely come a long way, and we have become one of the best in the world.
The RSAF, which has always strove for organisational excellence, is now setting its sights on becoming a third-generation Air Force, a move that will involve technological transformation, a revolution of employment, and most important of all, the transformation of its people.
And indeed, it is through the efforts of its people that the RSAF will be able to soar to greater heights.
When you put in effort in your work, the organisation will definitely take notice and award you accordingly. This award will be a reminder for me to continue to work hard and to further excel in my job, said 1SG Wilky Wong, an Air Crew Specialist with 122 Squadron, and recipient of the Best Air Crew Specialist Award.
