The United States' (US) Secretary of the Navy Donald Winter called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Desmond Kuek on 20 Aug.

Dr Winter, who is visiting Singapore from 19 to 21 Aug, will also call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and on Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.

As part of his visit, Dr Winter will tour Changi Naval Base, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore's Port Operations Control Centre, and the Information Sharing Centre that has been set up as part of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia.

The US and Singapore enjoy an excellent bilateral defence relationship.

The US Navy (USN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) interact extensively through visits, bilateral and multilateral exercises, as well as cross-attendance of professional courses.
