The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Itthaporn Subhawong, was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at an investiture held at the Ministry of Defence on 17 July.

This prestigious military award, also known as the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), was awarded to ACM Itthaporn in recognition for his outstanding efforts in promoting excellent ties between the RTAF and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).

The RTAF and RSAF regularly engage in a broad range of activities, which include bilateral and multilateral exercises that serve to enhance the interoperability and camaraderie between the personnel of both air forces.

ACM Itthaporn, who is in Singapore from 16 to 18 July, called on Mr Teo, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek and Chief of Air Force Major-General Ng Chee Khern before the investiture.
