Led by its Commander, Colonel (COL) Mike Yong, a delegation from the Singapore Armed Forces Military Police Command (SAF MP Comd) visited the Police Headquarters at New Phoenix Park on 21 Jan.

Receiving the visitors were the Commissioner of Police (CP) Khoo Boon Hui and Director of the Criminal Investigation Department Lock Wai Han.

During the meeting, CP Khoo lauded the close ties between the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and SAF MP Comd. He reiterated the need for continued cooperation as "both parties are integral entities controlling crime in Singapore".

CP Khoo also said the SAF is an important institution as it imbues disciplinary values in male Singaporeans during their National Service stint.

On its part, the SAF MP Comd officers briefed their SPF counterparts on the recent amendments to the SAF Act.

The recent amendments to the Penal Code were also discussed, as the changes would have an impact on the operating procedures of both parties.

Other law enforcement issues such as intelligence sharing, training and benchmarking courses, exchange programmes between the SPF and SAF MP Comd were discussed as well.

The meeting ended with CP Khoo and COL Yong exchanging mementos, and reaffirming their strong commitment to close collaboration between the SPF and the SAF MP Comd.

The SAF MP Comd delegation then toured the SPF Heritage Centre, and this was followed by lunch at the Senior Police Officers' Mess.
