Three RSN ships, RSS Vengeance, RSS Sea Tiger and RSS Dauntless, as well as two RTN ships, HTMS Witthayakhom and HTMS Chon Buri, are participating in the exercise that comprises a sea phase and two shore phases - to be conducted at Changi Naval Base and Sattahip Naval Base in Thailand.
For the first time in the biennial exercise, there will be a maritime surveillance and tracking component included.
This year's exercise is hosted by the RSN and is the fourteenth in the series of exercises held between the two navies.
Since its inauguration in 1981, Exercise Singsiam has expanded in scope and complexity, evolving from conventional naval warfare exercises to incorporating maritime security elements.
The exercise serves to enhance interoperability and mutual understanding between the two navies, and also underscores the warm and longstanding defence ties between the Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
The eight-day exercise will end on 20 Jul.
