Amid an awe-inspiring display of the 3rd Singapore Division (3 DIV's) capabilities through a mobile column, Colonel (COL) Perry Lim Cheng Yeow took over command of the division from Brigadier-General (BG) Mark Tan Ming Yiak on 27 May at Jurong Camp I.

At the change of command parade witnessed by Chief of Army BG Ravinder Singh, BG Tan modestly attributed his success as 3 DIV commander to the strong foundation built by his predecessors. He added: "A commander only exists because of the people we lead, and we can only achieve because of our people, because all of you give our best."

BG Tan, who is also Commandant, SAFTI Military Institute Headquarters, has moved on to the concurrent appointment of Future Systems Architect, Future Systems Directorate.

Although he confessed to feeling a tinge of sadness on leaving 3 DIV, he was proud to hand the division over to the highly-qualified and experienced COL Lim, who was formerly Head, Joint Plans and Transformation Department.
