An annual artillery training exercise is now in full swing at the Wairouru Training Area in New Zealand, where the highlight is the first live-firing of the Singapore Light-Weight Howitzer, codenamed Pegasus.

Commissioned in Singapore on 28 Oct last year, Pegasus is the world's first self-propelled and heli-portable 155mm lightweight howitzer.

Gunners from the 23rd Battalion Singapore Artillery of the Singapore Armed Forces are undergoing their Field Artillery Training Evaluation Programme, which tests their operational readiness and proficiency, in this exercise.

Held over a period of 12 days starting from 12 Jan, Exercise Thunder Warrior will also feature integrated air-land training involving mini-Unmanned Airborne Vehicles and the TPQ-37 Weapon Locating Radar.
