CHIEF OF AUSTRALIAN ARMY RECEIVES AWARD
04 Sep 2007
Under LG Leahy's leadership, interactions between the Singapore and Australian armies have increased in scope and depth. This has been made possible through initiatives such as the annual Australian Defence Force-Singapore Armed Forces Army-to-Army Staff Talks, exchanges in areas of professional interest like peacekeeping and network-centric warfare, and cooperation in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives (CBRE) exercises.
These interactions have enhanced the professionalism of both armies and strengthened the mutual understanding and camaraderie between their officers and men.
LG Leahy's strong personal support for the Singapore Army's training in Australia has contributed significantly to enhancing the operational readiness of the SAF.
As part of his visit, LG Leahy also called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Chief of Army MG Neo Kian Hong. He also visited the 120 Squadron at Sembawang Air Base.
