NDP 2025 SHOW EXPANDS FROM PADANG TO MARINA BAY

//STORY BY NICOLE YONG /PHOTOS BY CHUA SOON LYE & LOH YU ZE

This year’s NDP show will be a musical extravaganza with over 3,000 performers, eight land and water floats, and the largest mobile stage ever used in NDP history!

Spectacular performances featuring 39 artistes and more than 3,000 performers. Eight unique land and water floats at the Padang and in the waters of Marina Bay. A specially designed 360-degree centre stage.

Singaporeans can look forward to all these and more at this year’s National Day Parade (NDP) Show!

Bringing performances closer

Inspired by the National Anthem, the show will highlight a forward-looking narrative of belonging, unity and hope, as well as immersive multimedia performances for audiences at both Padang and Bay.

The mobile stage at the Padang, which can rise to 7m-high, is covered by 270 LED screens – yes, you heard this number right – to bring performances closer to spectators. There will also be eight island stages and LED screens running over 200m-long all around the Padang.

Those at the Bay will catch singer Benjamin Kheng performing on a 9m-long NDP mobile floating stage – the first of its kind – that is mounted on a Republic of Singapore Navy Fast Craft Utility.

Speaking to media on 26 Jun, Chairman of the Show Committee, Colonel (COL) Edwin Chua said: “Our SG60 Show marks a significant developmental milestone for our country… This year, more than ever, we are immensely proud to be able to showcase the depth and the breadth of the arts and creative industry in Singapore.”

Creative Director Boo Junfeng (right), pictured with COL Chua, shared that the Show structure was inspired by the lyrics of the national anthem, Majulah Singapura. “Amidst the celebrations, we invite Singaporeans to take stock of the journey that we have taken and find strength for the road ahead.”
This year’s Show celebrates local talents and aims to unite and inspire Singaporeans.

Showcasing homegrown talents

Reflecting the talents of homegrown artistes and composers, almost all the music featured in the Show is locally written.

Kicking off the pre-parade segment, for instance, is a musical film featuring Makin' Our Way, an original NDP song written and composed by singer-songwriter Benjamin Kheng.

He will also be performing a duet of last year’s NDP theme song, Not Alone, with national songstress Rahimah Rahim.

“It’s really an honour to be back (to perform for NDP). I think what makes it really special this time is being able to share the experience with someone as respected as Rahimah. Having her sing my song really gave me goosebumps,” shared Mr Kheng.

“It’s a thrill to perform together! We’re very excited.”

Ms Rahimah added: “Benjamin and I have very different singing genres, so (this collaboration) is something new. It’s a challenge, but when I sing it, I can feel the music and the melody in me.”

Eye-catching floats and celebrations

For the first time, the live Show will take place over an expanded canvas from the Padang to the Marina Bay, allowing more Singaporeans to be part of the celebrations.

This includes eight unique and vibrant floats designed by talented artists with disabilities, with four land floats at the Padang and another four water floats in the Marina Bay.

Nurin Farisha (left), an artist with disability, shared that her painting was about her dream of wanting to take a road trip. The wings on the motorbike (pictured below), which came to life as one of four land floats, symbolise her desire to break free.

These SG60-themed artwork will also come alive through stunning light projections on the building facades of the Fullerton Hotel and UOB Plaza One at the Bay area.

Coming together as one S’pore

This year’s NDP also invites Singaporeans to be part of the Show by sharing wishes for themselves as part of the “Our Singaporean Wish” segment.

Live audiences at the Padang and five Bay Celebration sites will be able to pen down their wishes on a double-sided placard in their NDP Pack.

The “I want to” side is meant for wishes for themselves, and wishes for their community can be written on the “I want us to” side.

Audiences can raise their placard alongside the performers during the show.
For the grand finale, a fireworks display will light up the Padang and Marina Bay to commemorate SG60.

All spectators will get to wear LED wristbands, bringing life to NDP as a living multimedia canvas.

This is complete with dazzling stage effects such as flame projectors, laser effects and of course, the crowd-favourite fireworks!
