Armour visit Dad at work!

//Story by Nicole Yong / Photos by Chai Sian Liang

In this year’s PIONEER Kids special, MAJ Justin Tan brings his three children – Danielle, Thaddeus and Asher – on a military adventure at the Home of the Armour.

Matchy-matchy with Daddy: Danielle (front row, left), Thaddeus (front row, right) and Asher (carried by MAJ Tan) decked out in their new uniforms.

The Tan siblings have always been curious about what Dad does at work.

In PIONEER’s Children’s Day special this year, Manpower Officer from 4th Singapore Armour Brigade (4 SAB), Major (MAJ) Tan Zhen Wei Justin, fulfilled their wish. He brought his three children – Danielle, 7, Thaddeus, 5, and Asher, 2 – to Sungei Gedong Camp to learn more about the Armour Formation.

Check out the snapshots of these little ones as they joined Dad for a fun field trip at the Home of the Armour!

The dream team carrying out a mission with the Hunter Armoured Fighting Vehicle at the Armour Simulation Centre : Danielle (background) and Thaddeus are gunners, while MAJ Tan acts as their vehicle commander.
Danielle (left) trying out the Bronco Driving Simulator under Daddy’s guidance. The Bronco All-Terrain Tracked Carrier is a multi-purpose vehicle that can transport soldiers or equipment across all sorts of rugged terrain.
Time to go “outfield”! MAJ Tan teaching Danielle (right) and Thaddeus how to put on camo cream.
Can you spot us? The trio put their camo applying skills to the test by trying to blend in with the grassy background.
Munch time! Danielle (far right), Thaddeus (far left) and Asher trying field rations for the first time.
Chowing his food down with vigour, Thaddeus (far left) cheekily asked MAJ Tan: “Daddy, can we bring some home?” Guess it must have been good!

To celebrate Children’s Day, PIONEER is holding a special giveaway!

Four winners will receive a limited-edition Service Bear dressed in the iconic SAF No. 4 uniform from each Service. The bears – each representing the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Navy, the Republic of Singapore Air Force and the Digital and Intelligence Service – will be given at random.

Find out how you can get your hands on (from left) Captain (CPT) Chris, Sailor Sam, Guardian Gabby or CPT Ted!

Contest ends 20 Oct 2024, 11.59pm.
